I couldn’t believe the lawyers actually did this.

This is the most naive sentence I have ever read.

Well you gotta point there, but there must be some good and honest lawyers out there other than our fellow Oppo lawyers like ImmoralMinority

Totally and completely unethical. OTOH, I’ve never heard of a current client filing a complaint/grievance against a lawyer they still are using, so that wasn’t the smartest move!

I’ve had one filed against me — it was by an opposing party who got his butt kicked at arbitration, then appealed to a federal district court and lost there as well. Luckily, the letter from the State Bar forwarding it to me also downgraded it from a grievance to an inquiry and then dismissed it all in one fell swoop, so I didn’t have to do anything. Also have been sued by an opposing party — the judge dismissed it right away and sanctioned the other party’s attorney for filing it, but it was aggravating as hell. (That one ended up with my client — as the defendant asserting a counterclaim — winning on the plaintiff’s original claim and also winning a $2.2m judgment on the counterclaim we asserted. Karma!)
